Katie Tian Kai 

Ms. Katie Tian Kai holds an Education Master's from the University of Auckland (2018) and another Master's in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (2014). In 2019, Katie made the move to Canada, settling in Ottawa where she enjoys life with her young family.Boasting over a decade in the educational field, Katie has taught students of all ages, from primary to university. During her time at the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) in Shanghai, she helped craft the innovative study-in-China bootcamp program and delivered Chinese courses to students from renowned universities like Colombia and Pennsylvania State. Beyond this, she's also made her mark teaching non-credit Chinese courses to professionals at the University of Auckland in Zealand and Carleton University in Canada.Katie is deeply interested in language learning theories, educational psychology, and the potential of generative AI in language education. She incorporates these insights into her teaching, emphasizing native-speaker interactions, prioritizing spoken communication, and creating an inviting atmosphere where students feel empowered to practice and improve their language abilities.

With a background in Chinese language and literature, as well as pedagogy, I bring a vibrant and cheerful energy to the classroom.
